PPF Calculator
A 15-year projection with a sensitivity view, because the rate is reset every quarter and will not stay where it is today.
Your numbers
Nothing you type here leaves your device as you work. Saving is the only thing that sends it anywhere, and only when you ask.
₹1.5 lakh
Between ₹500 and ₹1,50,000.
The account runs 15 years and can be extended in 5-year blocks.
Interest is on the lowest balance between the 5th and month end, so a deposit after the 5th earns nothing that month.

What this means
- Projected at 7.10%, the rate notified for Q1 FY 2026-27 (April-June 2026). PPF rates are reset EVERY QUARTER, so over 15 years this rate will change many times. Treat this as arithmetic on one assumption, not a forecast.
- Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of each month. Depositing on or before the 5th earns you that month's interest; depositing on the 6th does not.
- PPF is EEE — the deposit qualifies under section 80C (old regime), the interest is tax free, and the maturity amount is tax free.
- The account runs for 15 years and can then be extended in blocks of 5 years, with or without further deposits.
- Partial withdrawal is allowed from year 7, and a loan from year 3. Neither is a reason to treat this as accessible money — the lock-in is the point.
- One percentage point either way changes the maturity value by roughly ₹3,52,211. That spread is how much of this projection is assumption rather than fact.
Questions people actually ask
- Does the PPF rate stay fixed for 15 years?
- No. It is reset every quarter by the Ministry of Finance. A 15-year projection at one rate is arithmetic on an assumption, not a forecast — which is why this page shows what happens at one percentage point either side.
- Does the date I deposit matter?
- Yes — by more than most people expect. Interest is calculated on the lowest balance between the 5th and the last day of each month. Depositing on or before the 5th earns that month’s interest; depositing on the 6th does not.
